چکیده

OBJECTIVES Different surface treatments may affect bonding performance of adhesive systems to dentin. This study evaluated the influence of different methods of surface treatment on adhesion of bonding agents to dentin. METHODS Dentin surfaces abraded with #600-grit SiC paper were used as control. Three methods of surface treatment (sono-abrasion, air-abrasion and Er:YAG laser irradiation) were used under specific parameters. Four adhesive systems (Tyrian, Clearfil SE Bond, Unifil Bond and Single Bond) were applied to treated surfaces, according to the manufacturers' instructions. Composite blocks were built on bonded surfaces, then restored teeth were vertically and serially sectioned to obtain bonded slices for interfacial micromorphologic analysis or to produce beam specimens for mu-TBS bond test. Data were analyzed with two-way ANOVA and Tukey test at a significance level of 5%. RESULTS The results indicated that the preparation of dentin with sono-abrasion or laser did not affect the bond strength, while the preparation of dentin with SiC paper and air-abrasion influenced the bond strength for some systems. A clear difference of the preparation of dentin surfaces and formation of hybrid layer and resin tags were noted. CONCLUSION Bonding effectiveness of both the etch-and-rinse and the self-etch adhesives can be influenced by different methods of dentin preparation.

Shear Bond Strength of Nanocomposites to Dentin Substrate Treated with Er:YAG Laser Followed by Two Different Bonding Systems

Background and Aim: Preparation of tooth structure by laser systems produces a surface with different characteristics. Therefore, selecting an appropriate bonding system is necessary to achieve the maximum bond strength. The aim of this study was to compare the bond strength of Adper Single Bond 2 adhesive and Single Bond Univer-sal to dentin prepared by bur or laser. Materials and Methods: ...

Current concepts and techniques for caries excavation and adhesion to residual dentin.

The advent of "Adhesive Dentistry" has simplified the guidelines for cavity preparation enormously. The design and extent of the current preparations are basically defined by the extent and shape of the caries lesion, potentially slightly extended by bevelling the cavity margins in order to meet the modern concept of minimally invasive dentistry. New caries excavation techniques have been intro...

In vitro bracket bond strength to acid-etched or air-abraded enamel.

PURPOSE This study evaluated, in vitro, the capacity of a dentin bonding agent to improve the bond strength of orthodontic brackets using air abrasion enamel preparation. METHODS Each of the enamel surfaces received a different treatment prior to bonding procedures. Group 1 received acid-etched with 38% phosphoric acid for 30 seconds. Group 2 received acid-etched with 38% phosphoric acid for ...
